Find the cause, then treat it.

Too many women are handed birth control and sent on their way. Symptoms masked, cause never found. We start the other direction: comprehensive testing to understand what's actually driving your symptoms, then nutrition, supplements, and medication aimed at that cause.

Sometimes birth control is genuinely useful for managing symptoms while we sort out the underlying picture. We just rarely use it as the long-term answer.

We also care for women navigating postpartum depression, in coordination with your OB and mental health provider. The hormonal shifts after birth are dramatic, and being told this is simply part of new motherhood helps no one.

01
PCOS patterns

A common hormone pattern behind irregular cycles, acne, and unwanted hair growth.

02
Insulin resistance

When cells stop responding well to insulin, it can push androgens up and make cycles irregular.

03
High androgens (male-pattern hormones)

Elevated testosterone or DHT can show up as acne, hair growth, or thinning hair.

04
Low progesterone

Often behind heavy PMS, mood shifts before your period, and poor sleep.

05
Stress hormone imbalance

Ongoing stress shifts cortisol, which can disrupt your cycle and your mood.

06
Thyroid dysfunction

An under- or overactive thyroid can affect cycles, mood, energy, and skin.

07
Gut inflammation

Your gut helps clear used hormones, so gut problems can affect hormone balance.

08
Nutrient deficiencies

Low levels of nutrients like magnesium, B6, or vitamin D can make cycle symptoms worse.

A full hormone panel, plus a deeper dive.

These conditions need more than a standard hormone panel, so we add the markers that reveal what's really going on.

Sex hormones
Estradiol & Progesterone
Low progesterone drives much of the PMS and PMDD picture.
Total & Free Testosterone
High androgens fuel acne, hair growth, and irregular cycles.
DHT
When indicated: the potent androgen behind stubborn acne and hair loss.
SHBG
Determines how much testosterone is actually active in your body.
DHEA & Pregnenolone
Upstream building blocks that shape everything downstream.
Cycle & ovaries
LH & FSH
The ratio between them is a classic PCOS signal.
AMH
Reflects ovarian reserve and is often elevated in PCOS.
Prolactin
High levels can stop cycles entirely and are easily missed.
Metabolism & stress
Fasting insulin
Insulin resistance often drives PCOS long before blood sugar looks abnormal.
A1c
Shows your longer-term blood sugar pattern.
Cortisol
Chronic stress disrupts cycles and mood alike.
Full thyroid panel
Thyroid dysfunction mimics and worsens every one of these conditions.

Nutrition, supplements, and medication, aimed at the cause.

Your plan is built from what your labs show. Insulin resistance is treated differently than low progesterone, and elevated androgens call for something different again. That's the point of testing first.

Most plans combine nutrition, targeted supplements, and medication when it's warranted, plus gut health or weight support when those are part of the picture. For hormonal acne, see Skin From Within.

We track how you feel and adjust your plan as your body responds.

What patients ask us most.

Can I stay on birth control?

+

Yes, that’s your choice. Birth control can help manage symptoms, and some women prefer to stay on it. It doesn’t address why symptoms happen, though, so we look for the cause either way and talk through your options together.

Do I need a PCOS diagnosis before I come in?

+

No. Many of our patients arrive with no diagnosis at all, or with one that never came with a real explanation. PCOS patterns are one of the most common things we find.

Is PMDD really different from PMS?

+

Yes. PMS is uncomfortable; PMDD can be debilitating: severe depression, anxiety, or irritability that arrives with your cycle and lifts when it ends. It’s a real, treatable condition, not oversensitivity.

I’m on birth control now, can I still be tested?

+

We can start, but hormonal birth control suppresses the very hormones we need to measure, so some results won’t reflect your baseline. We’ll talk through timing at your consult and plan testing around it.

Will this help my acne?

+

Often, yes. Hormonal acne along the jaw and chin usually traces back to high androgens, insulin resistance, or poor gut health: inflammation and imbalance in the gut show up on your skin more often than most people realize. Treating those causes tends to do more for your skin than anything topical alone.

How is this different from what my GYN offers?

+

Many women are offered birth control without a full workup. We test comprehensively first, including insulin, A1c, AMH, prolactin, and androgens, then build a plan around what we find and stay with you while we refine it.

Do you offer virtual visits?

+

Yes. We offer in-office and virtual visits. Virtual visits are available to patients located in New Jersey.

What does it cost?

+

We’re a cash-based practice, so care isn’t billed through insurance. Many patients use HSA or FSA funds, and we offer payment plans. Pricing is covered on your free discovery call, before you commit to anything.
